Thomas Walker, maker’s mark

December 5th, 2011 by Weldons

Part of the renowned Walker family, (See Samuel Walker and Joseph Walker), Thomas Walker was a silversmith working in Dublin from 1714-76, a remarkably long career. Interestingly, he was Churchwarden of St. Werburgh’s church in 1726, and was elected Master of the company of goldsmiths, but for some reason asked to be released from this, and had to pay a fine of ten pounds to be released. Henry Daniel took over in his place.

His makers mark was a beautiful TW with a crown above, a really lovely mark.
